Malami family trial resumes over N8.7bn fraud allegations
Former Attorney-General Abubakar Malami, his wife Asabe Rakiya Bashir, and son Abubakar Abdulaziz Malami are on trial for conspiracy and money laundering totaling N8.713 billion. Prosecution witness Daniel Kwayil from Union Bank testified about transactions linked to Meethaq Hotels Limited, including deposits of N1.7 million and N21.2 million on November 3, 2022, and N10 million twice from YMB Energy Limited on December 20, 2022. The EFCC alleges these funds were laundered through the company. The trial continues at Abuja's Federal High Court.
