On the 31st day of the US/Israel-Iran war (Monday, March 30, 2026), Iranian forces attacked a desalination and power plant in Kuwait, killing one Indian worker and injuring 10 soldiers, according to Al Jazeera and Kuwait's Electricity Ministry. The strike destroyed the plant's service building, threatening water and power supply in Gulf states.

Yemen's Houthis launched ballistic missiles at Israel, with the Israeli military intercepting two drones early Monday. The Houthis stated the attack was retaliation for aggression on Iran, Lebanon, Iraq, and Palestine, vowing continued operations until US and Israel halt attacks.

Iran confirmed the death of IRGC Navy Commander Alireza Tangsiri from a US-Israel strike, as reported by Reuters. Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz described it as a precise operation that eliminated Tangsiri and senior naval officials.

In a Financial Times interview, former US President Donald Trump said he considers seizing Iran's Kharg Island, which handles 90% of Iran's crude exports, claiming it would be easy due to weak defenses.

Additionally, UN diplomat Mohamad Safa resigned, alleging on X that the UN is preparing for possible nuclear weapon use against Iran. He urged global protests, calling the situation dire.

The war's escalation threatens global oil supply, risking price shocks that could impact Nigeria's fuel costs and government revenue. Unconfirmed nuclear threat reports add to instability fears.

For Nigeria, an oil-dependent economy, this means potential increases in fuel prices and inflation. Nigerians should monitor official channels for updates on energy prices and diplomatic responses. How might rising oil prices affect your household budget or business costs?
