Milan's menswear fashion week began Friday, featuring wintry, sporty collections from Ralph Lauren and Dsquared2. Ralph Lauren returned to Milan after 24 years with American formal wear and Aspen-inspired winter gear ahead of the February 6 Winter Olympics in the Italian city. Dsquared2 showcased provocative holiday looks with puffer jackets and fake fur hats. The event comes as Italian menswear faces a 2.1 percent turnover decline in 2025 to €11.2 billion ($13 billion), according to Confindustria Moda. Exports fell 2 percent while imports rose 2.8 percent. Industry leaders note the sector is pivoting toward new markets including Mercosur nations, the Middle East, and India. Giorgio Armani's show on Monday will be the first without founder Giorgio Armani, who died in September 2024 at age 91. Partner Leo Dell'Orco promises "continuity with bright touches" and new colours. Prada and Dolce & Gabbana show this weekend, with Paul Smith also returning. The crisis highlights a shift toward craftsmanship and tailoring fundamentals.
