Moghalu slams Bwala's Al Jazeera interview as disaster for Nigeria
Former CBN Deputy Governor Kingsley Moghalu has condemned President Tinubu's media aide Daniel Bwala's interview on Al Jazeera's Head to Head, calling it a "disaster of gargantuan proportions" for Nigeria, Tinubu's administration, and Bwala himself. Moghalu stated the interview, conducted by Mehdi Hasan, portrayed Nigeria poorly globally due to its international reach and live audience format. He questioned the impression formed about Nigeria's leadership and performance, describing it as "such a fact-based shredding of the country's leadership." The episode reflects deeper issues in Nigeria's political culture driven by opportunism and power struggles rather than ideology, according to Moghalu. He criticized the government's choice of spokespersons, noting competence often takes a backseat to loyalty in appointments. Moghalu also questioned appointing former political opponents as spokespersons, arguing they carry baggage that undermines credibility. He suggested more credible individuals could represent the government despite its governance challenges.
