MTN Nigeria Swings to ₦5.2 Trillion Profit After Data Tariff Hike

MTN Nigeria generated ₦5.20 trillion ($3.82 billion) in 2025 revenue, its highest ever, reversing a ₦400.44 billion ($294.48 million) loss from 2024. The turnaround followed a 74.5% revenue surge driven by doubled data tariffs (₦575/GB vs ₦287.5/GB) and 35.7% higher data consumption (13.25 million terabytes). Data now contributes 53.39% of earnings, up from 46.6% in 2024. Voice revenue grew 49.54% and fintech revenue surged 79.68%. MTN restored ₦1.11 trillion profit and ₦20 ($0.015) per-share dividend after ₦5 ($0.004) interim payout. Improved naira stability and regulatory pricing approval enabled the shift from losses to profitability.
