National Assembly members criticized the Federal Government for inadequate funding of Nigeria's Livestock Development Ministry, despite its establishment two years ago. Minister Idi Mukhtar Maiha revealed that 65% of consumed animals are imported, with Nigeria missing out on ₦3.2 billion in red meat export revenue. Only ₦20 billion of the ₦70 billion approved for the ministry in 2024 was released, and no capital allocation for 2025 has been disbursed. Lawmakers called on President Tinubu to intervene, with Senator Monguno calling the situation contradictory to the ministry's creation purpose. Senator Ningi suggested possible sabotage, urging urgent meetings with the President to address the funding crisis.
