The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has threatened to suspend Royal Air Maroc’s operations in Nigeria due to persistent passenger complaints and repeated consumer protection violations. In a statement issued on Thursday, NCAA Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection Michael Achimugu said the airline continues to mishandle baggage, provide poor service, delay complaint resolutions, and ignore invitations to meetings, with its Country Manager Ahmed Boussouf reportedly dismissing one invitation by saying, “Whatever you want to do, do.” Achimugu warned that strict enforcement will follow until the airline commits to treating Nigerian passengers better and pledged to pursue stiffer penalties under Part 19 of NCAA Regulations, which obliges airlines to ensure fair treatment, timely complaint resolution, and accountability for service failures.

This matters to Nigerian travellers who fly Royal Air Maroc, as a suspension could disrupt flights and leave passengers seeking alternatives. It also signals the NCAA’s growing willingness to sanction international carriers for consumer‑rights breaches, following earlier actions against Aero Compliers (April 2025) and a N5 million fine on Qatar Airways (November 2025). Passengers should keep records of any issues, know their rights under Part 19, and consider lodging complaints directly with the NCAA if problems arise.

Travelers might want to monitor NCAA updates, explore alternative airlines for affected routes, and familiarize themselves with complaint channels to protect their rights while the regulator pursues compliance.
