NCS AEO Programme Boosts Revenue by 29.68% to ₦1.585 Trillion
Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) revenue from Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) programme surged from ₦1.222 trillion to ₦1.585 trillion (29.68% growth) for 51 certified entities as of October 27, 2025. The programme contributed 21.77% to NCS's total 2025 revenue of ₦7.281 trillion, while customs duties rose 85.66% due to improved compliance and trade volumes. AEO participation reduced cargo clearance time by 75.60% (from 168 to 41 hours) and cut operating costs by 57.2%. However, one certified company was suspended for false declarations, demonstrating enforcement of AEO integrity. The programme aligns with WCO standards to balance security with trade efficiency.
