NDC adjusts primary election dates nationwide due to Eid logistics
NDC adjusts primary election dates nationwide due to Eid logistics. The party has rescheduled its Presidential, National Assembly, Governorship, and State Assembly primaries to accommodate transportation issues caused by Eid-el-Kabir festivities.
Originally planned for May 28-29, 2026, primaries will now occur with May 28 dedicated to arrivals, INEC documentation, security agency consultations, and preparatory meetings. May 29 will host the actual primaries including Presidential affirmation, National Assembly primaries, State Assembly primaries, and Governorship primaries.
Numerous aspirants and screening committee members remain stranded in Abuja due to limited flights during the public holidays. The party emphasizes that state agencies including Police, INEC, and DSS are prohibited from participating in May 28 activities, with any unauthorized actions considered illegal. Results processing will follow strict procedures: Teams gather and process results before sending to National Headquarters for official announcement by the National Working Committee. No state executives are authorized to declare results.
