NDC rejects OK Movement's Presidential Campaign Council for 2027 election
Nigeria’s Democratic Congress (NDC) has publicly rejected a Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) announced by the OK Movement ahead of the 2027 general elections. In a statement signed on Saturday, 19 September 2026, by National Chairman Cleopas Moses, the party said the announcement credited to John Ugulu was not authorised and did not emanate from the NDC. The statement stressed that, to avoid doubt, the NDC dissociates itself entirely from the OK Movement PCC and urged the public and media to disregard it. It clarified that only the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) has the authority to constitute and announce a PCC, and that all NDC candidates remain party members subject to its leadership and discipline. While the NDC appreciates support groups and welcomes more that align with its mission, it warned that such groups must not see themselves as alternative party structures or parallel organs. The disowning comes as parties begin positioning for the 2027 polls, highlighting the NDC’s effort to maintain internal cohesion and prevent splinter factions from confusing voters.
