NDC constituted its national campaign council for the 2027 general elections on Sunday, naming Senator Seriake Dickson as chairman with presidential candidate Peter Obi and running mate Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as co-chairman and co-vice chairman respectively. The council includes Senator Cleopas Zuwoghe as vice chairman and former SGF Babachir Lawal on the advisory council.

The structure comprises a 40-member national campaign advisory council and 37 state campaign coordinators. Key appointments include NDC Publicity Secretary Osa Director as Director of Communication and Media, and former defence spokesperson Major General John Enenche (retd.) as Director of Security and Intelligence. Campaign DG is Ibrahim Hussain Abdulkarim.

The Obi-Kwankwaso pairing signals a notable opposition alignment ahead of 2027, combining Labour Party and NNPP structures under the NDC banner. With Dickson's South-South base, Kwankwaso's North-West influence, and Obi's national appeal, the council reflects deliberate regional balancing.

For political observers, the real test is whether this council translates into a functional national campaign machinery or remains a paper alliance. Will the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket hold through primaries, or will party dynamics fracture this arrangement before 2027?
