NECO releases 2026 BECE results, sets July 22-23 re-sit for Math, English

NECO has released the results of the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination, BECE, showing that 186,291 candidates from Nigeria's 36 states, the FCT and five foreign countries sat the exams between April 20 and April 30, 2026. The results were approved after the BECE Award Committee meeting in Minna, Niger State, chaired by Dr Folake Olatunji David, Director of Basic Education at the Federal Ministry of Education.

Candidates who have deficiencies in Mathematics, English Studies or both can sit the re-sit examination on July 22 and 23, 2026. The re-sit offers a chance to obtain the BECE certificate required for admission into Senior Secondary School One without repeating an academic year.

Candidates should check their individual results on the NECO portal or through their schools. Those needing to re-sit should register for the July exams using the procedures outlined by NECO and prepare for the two subjects. Parents and guardians are advised to monitor the official NECO website for updates on registration deadlines and result verification.
