NERC approves compensation for Band A customers with February-March outages

NERC approved special compensation for Band A customers affected by power supply shortfalls between February and March 2026. The directive responds to significant generation shortages caused by inadequate gas supply and infrastructure vandalism.

Band A feeders with 18-20 hours supply continue compensation under existing framework. Those with less than 18 hours get 20% of February energy cap—prepaid customers receive token credits, postpaid get bill adjustments.

DisCos must implement compensation by May 31 (February) and June 30 (March), and cannot offset against existing debts. NERC will monitor compliance to ensure all eligible customers receive their compensation.
