Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) formally appeals FIFA's rejection of its petition challenging DR Congo players' eligibility in the 2026 World Cup play-off. Nigeria lost 4-3 on penalties after alleging passport irregularities for DR Congo players. FIFA fined Nigeria 1,000 Swiss francs and DR Congo 5,000 Swiss francs for fan misconduct during the same match. NFF General Secretary Dr Mohammed Sanusi confirmed the appeal process has begun. DR Congo advances to the intercontinental playoff against Jamaica/New Caledonia winner. The appeal challenges FIFA's Disciplinary Committee verdict while DR Congo prepares for the next round.
