The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) sustained bullish momentum on Thursday, September 17, 2026, with market capitalisation rising to N159.9 trillion from N158.71 trillion the previous session, a gain of N1.18 trillion. The All-Share Index advanced to 246,315.38 points, up from 244,791.79 points, marking five consecutive days of gains from a weekly low of 243,052.74 points on September 11. Trading volume jumped to 1.1 billion shares in 54,026 deals, about double the prior day's volume. Sectorally, the Industrial Index led with a rise to 10,224.02 points from 9,936.78, while Banking and Insurance also advanced. Top gainers included Beta Glass, UPDC REIT, Consolidated Hallmark, and BUA Cement, each hitting the 10% daily limit. Leading losers were Transcorp Power, Legend Internet, and Omatek Ventures, each down near 10%. Financial services remained the most active segment, with Zenith Bank and Access Holdings contributing the highest volumes. Market breadth closed positive with 34 gainers versus 23 losers. The rally reflects broad-based buying interest across major stocks, pushing the NGX to its weekly high.

Given the sustained upswing and notable sectoral shifts, should you consider increasing exposure to industrials and banking, or take profits from the recent gainers while the market momentum holds?
