Federal Government has tightened health screening and surveillance at land borders, airports, and seaports nationwide following outbreak of Bundibugyo strain of Ebola virus in Democratic Republic of Congo's Ituri province.

Although no confirmed Ebola cases exist in Nigeria, the Ministry of Health has activated heightened preparedness measures including mandatory temperature checks, health declaration forms, travel history assessments, and secondary screening for symptomatic travelers.

Healthcare facilities nationwide advised to maintain high index of suspicion for viral hemorrhagic fevers, strengthen triage systems, isolate suspected cases, and adhere to established reporting protocols. Public urged to maintain hand hygiene, avoid contact with bodily fluids of symptomatic individuals, and report unusual illnesses to health authorities.

These measures mirror those implemented during 2014 Ebola outbreak and COVID-19 pandemic. WHO reports 116 suspected Ebola cases in DRC (down from 900+), with 330 confirmed and 48 deaths. Nine confirmed cases also reported in neighboring Uganda with one fatality.

Travelers should expect enhanced screening at all Nigerian entry points and report any symptoms immediately to authorities.
