Nigerian Ministers to Attend Powering Africa Summit 2026 in Washington, D.C.
Two Nigerian ministers and Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission officials will participate in the Powering Africa Summit 2026 in Washington, D.C. from March 19-20. The summit focuses on strengthening US-Africa energy partnerships and expanding investment in Africa's power sector. Nigerian Minister of Solid Minerals Development Dele Alake and Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas) Ekperikpe Ekpo will join Lagos delegation including LASERC CEO Temitope George, Chairman Akinwunmi Ogunbiyi, and Executive Member Olakunle Falola. The Lagos officials will participate in a closed-door regulators' roundtable examining transparency and governance frameworks. The summit will also feature a Lagos electricity market investment session moderated by George, exploring opportunities in power generation, transmission, and distribution reforms. Alake will speak on critical minerals for energy transition, while Ekpo will discuss gas strategies between the US and Africa to support industrialisation.
