Nigerian equity market capitalization dropped N468.63 billion to close at N163.530 trillion on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, despite substantial trading activity. The NGX All-Share Index fell 0.29% to 251,913.20 points, down from 252,635.11 the previous day. Trading volume reached 548.65 million shares across 47,203 transactions, down 46% from Monday’s 1.024 billion shares. Top gainers included NPF Microfinance Bank (+10% to N4.40), LivingTrust Mortgage Bank (+10% to N2.86), Wapic Insurance (+9.95% to N2.43), VFD Group (+9.84% to N13.40), and ABC Transport (+9.82% to N6.15). Market breadth showed 32 decliners versus 27 gainers. Monday’s market cap had hit a record N163.999 trillion. The decline in banking, industrial, and consumer goods stocks dragged the market despite high liquidity, affecting investor wealth and retirement savings. Given the losses in banking and consumer goods but gains in insurance and growth, will you rebalance your portfolio toward resilient sectors or hold for a rebound?
