Troops of Operation HADIN KAI neutralized 152 terrorists, arrested 142 (including logistics suppliers), and 219 surrendered between August 1 and 31, 2026, according to security expert Zagazola Makama. They also conducted 10 successful air interdictions, neutralized nine improvised explosive devices, recovered 58 weapons and explosive items, 1,184 rounds of ammunition, and 16 mobility assets such as motorcycles and bicycles.

These actions degrade terrorist firepower and operational capacity in the North-East, potentially reducing attacks on civilians and restoring freedom of movement. The recoveries of weapons and vehicles disrupt supply chains, while surrenders indicate declining insurgent morale. For residents of Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa states, this could mean safer roads and markets.

With the insurgents weakened, what steps should local communities take to prevent resurgence—support rehabilitation programs, share intelligence with authorities, or reject extremist narratives?
