Nigerian Army troops rescued 18 passengers, including two infants, from suspected sea pirates who attacked a passenger boat traveling from Nigeria to Cameroon. The operation happened on Sunday near Kombo 4 Fishing Port, Cameroon, after pirates in two speedboats and a wooden boat hijacked the vessel.

Troops responded to a distress call and pursued the attackers, leading to an exchange of fire. One pirate speedboat capsized during the encounter, forcing the assailants to abandon their captives and flee into nearby creeks. All victims were rescued unharmed.

During the operation, troops expended five rounds of 7.62mm NATO and four rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Security operations continue in the area as the Nigerian Army reaffirms its commitment to sustaining operations across all theatres nationwide.
