Nigerians in Qatar, UAE, Iran seek evacuation guidance amid regional tensions

Nigerians in Qatar, UAE, and Iran are inquiring about potential evacuation options as regional tensions escalate, according to the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM). The commission confirmed receiving multiple requests for guidance but stated it has not received official distress calls from citizens in Iran. NIDCOM noted that immediate evacuation may be hindered by flight restrictions and security concerns, emphasizing that such operations depend on improved security conditions. Nigerians in affected countries are advised to remain in safe locations, maintain contact with Nigerian embassies for updates, and await further guidance from the commission. NIDCOM reaffirmed the Federal Government's commitment to protecting citizens abroad and stated necessary steps would be taken if the situation worsens.
