Nigeria's inflation eases to 15.10% in January 2026, driven by food price drops
Nigeria's headline inflation rate fell to 15.10% in January 2026 from 15.15% in December 2025, as food prices declined sharply. The Consumer Price Index dropped to 127.4 from 131.2, reflecting a 3.8-point monthly decrease. Year-on-year inflation slowed by 12.51 percentage points to 15.10% from 27.61% in January 2025. Food inflation reached 8.89% year-on-year, the lowest in over 14 years, down from 29.63% in January 2025. Subnational inflation remains highest in Benue (22.5%) and lowest in Niger (16.9%).
