On Tuesday September 22 2026 Nigeria’s total available electricity generation reached 5,403.3 megawatts with 4,379.07MW delivered to distribution companies nationwide according to the National Control Centre’s Daily Load Allocation Table.

Abuja DisCo received the highest load share at 700MW (15.20%) followed by Ikeja DisCo with 581MW (15.01%) Ibadan DisCo with 550MW (11.93%) and Benin DisCo with 531MW (8.04%). Other DisCos including Eko 519MW Enugu 512MW Port Harcourt 466MW Kano 161MW Kaduna 155MW Jos 134MW and Yola 70MW got allocations while 1,024.18MW went to exempted loads covering power stations auxiliary consumption transmission losses substation services and supplies to Niger and industrial consumers. The improvement is tied to the restoration of the 375MW Alaoji plant after three years offline and efforts by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

With generation now above 5,400MW households and businesses may see fewer outages but actual supply depends on DisCo distribution and local infrastructure. Consumers should monitor their DisCo’s announcements for load‑shedding schedules and consider backup options for critical needs. Will you rely on the improved grid invest in solar inverters or adjust usage patterns to match the available allocation?
