Nigeria'sinflation rate drops to 15.06% in February
Nigeria's headline inflation rate fell to 15.06 per cent in February 2026, down from 15.10 per cent in January 2026, according to National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) data released Monday. This represents a 0.04 per cent decrease month-on-month. On a year-on-year basis, the rate was 11.21 per cent lower than February 2025's 26.27 per cent, showing sustained improvement. Food inflation also eased to 12.12 per cent year-on-year, 14.86 percentage points below February 2025's 26.98 per cent. However, month-on-month food inflation rose to 4.69 per cent in February 2026 from -6.02 per cent in January 2026, driven by price increases in beans, carrots, okazi leaf, cassava tuber, crayfish, millet flour, yam flour, snails, and cow peas. This indicates mixed trends in food prices despite overall inflation decline.
