The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) forecasts dust haze across northern states and thunderstorms nationwide from Monday through Wednesday, warning residents of potential weather hazards. Released Sunday in Abuja, the outlook predicts slight dust haze over Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, Zamfara, Kebbi and Sokoto on Monday, with sunny conditions across the North-east throughout the period.

North-central states including Kogi, Kwara, Benue, FCT and Nasarawa face sunny skies with patches of clouds and possible thunderstorms with light rain. Southern states from Lagos to Cross River can expect cloudy skies with sunshine intervals, morning thunderstorms and light rain, intensifying to moderate rain by Wednesday.

NiMet specifically warns people with asthma and respiratory conditions to take precautions against suspended dust particles. Strong winds may precede thunderstorms—secure loose objects, disconnect electrical appliances during storms, and avoid standing under tall trees. Airline operators should obtain airport-specific weather reports from NiMet for flight planning.
