NiMet's three-day outlook for Monday to Wednesday calls for mixed weather: sunshine with intermittent clouds in the north, while thunderstorms and moderate rain sweep across Taraba, Adamawa, Kaduna, Borno, Bauchi, Gombe, Jigawa, Katsina, Kano and other northern states on Monday morning, spreading to the same areas by afternoon/evening. The North-Central region (Plateau, Niger, Nasarawa, FCT, Kogi, Benue) and southern states (Ondo, Ogun, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Lagos, Bayelsa) also see morning thunderstorms with moderate rain, becoming more widespread later. The pattern repeats Tuesday with shifted foci, and Wednesday brings partly cloudy northern skies, possible light rain over Bauchi, Jigawa and Yobe, then wider thunderstorms, while the South stays cloudy with light morning rain in Edo, Cross River, Delta, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom and Rivers, followed by regional thunderstorms.

The agency warns that strong winds may precede rain, urging residents to secure loose objects, avoid driving or wading through flood waters, and disconnect electrical appliances during heavy rain. Flash flooding is possible in coastal southern areas. Airline operators should obtain airport-specific weather from NiMet, and the public should monitor updates on NiMet's website.

Will you secure outdoor items and adjust travel plans to stay safe during the expected thunderstorms and rain?
