Nine killed as Iran protesters storm Karachi consulate
At least nine people died Sunday morning when pro-Iranian protesters stormed the US consulate in Karachi, Pakistan, following Ayatollah Khamenei's killing. Security forces opened fire to scatter hundreds of protesters, injuring several others. Large protests also erupted in Pakistan's Skardu region, where protesters burned a UN office building. Although Pakistan is predominantly Sunni, it has millions of Shia Muslims. Iran's IRCG vowed retaliation for Khamenei's death, launching strikes against Israel and US interests. Nigeria called for de-escalation, noting its own Shia minority population. No Nigerian protests reported.
