Nigeria Immigration Service warns citizens against leaving the country without valid travel documents, stressing such actions are illegal and expose individuals to serious risks. In a public alert posted on Monday, NIS spokesperson DCI AS Akinlabi emphasized that all international travel requires valid passport, required visa, and approved immigration documents.

The service raised concerns about growing fraudulent migration schemes where criminal networks lure young Nigerians with false promises of employment, education, or better living conditions abroad. 'These schemes often result in forced labour, human trafficking, and exploitation,' the agency warned, noting no legitimate travel process bypasses official procedures.

NIS urges Nigerians to verify all travel offers through official channels, avoid unregistered agents, and report suspicious activities to nearest immigration formations or security agencies. The warning comes as irregular migration routes continue to pose significant dangers to Nigerian travelers seeking opportunities abroad.
