NJC probes senior judges over misconduct allegations
The National Judicial Council (NJC) has launched a confidential investigation into senior judges, including court heads, following petitions alleging serious misconduct like forgery and false asset declarations. The probe, ordered by Chief Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, aims to cleanse the judiciary and restore public trust eroded by these claims. While identities of judges and petitioners remain undisclosed, the NJC has previously disciplined judges, including compulsory retirements and suspensions. This investigation follows Kekere-Ekun's 2024 pledge to promote judicial transparency and reform.
