NLO Sanctions Peace FC for Fielding Ineligible Players, Suspends Club
NLO has sanctioned Peace FC for fielding ineligible players and submitting false registration documents, violating league rules. The disciplinary committee found the club guilty after routine verification uncovered players Abasim Henry, Ekwo Stanley, and Mbakaogu Chibuike were under contract with Nigeria National League clubs through 2026-2027.
Peace FC forfeits all matches featuring ineligible players, with opposing teams awarded three points and 3-0 scoreline (or higher if actual score was greater). The club faces a ₦500,000 fine payable within seven days, suspension from all NLO competitions for the remainder of the 2025-26 season, and two years probation.
The decision takes immediate effect, though Peace FC has 72 hours to appeal to the Nigeria Football Federation Appeals Committee. This affects Peace FC's league position and benefits teams that played against them with ineligible players.
