NMDPRA Threatens Licence Revocation for Fuel Stations Over Under-Dispensing
NMDPRA warned petrol station operators nationwide on September 22 that persistent under-dispensing of fuel could lead to sanctions including licence revocation, directing immediate calibration of all dispensers to ensure consumers receive paid-for quantities. The warning came via the Authority's official X account amid recent petrol price increases and intensified market surveillance.
The NMDPRA cited observed incidents of under-dispensing as a breach of consumer trust, ordering operators to verify dispensers and totalizers immediately. Violations may trigger corrective action requirements, with persistent or serious cases facing sanctions up to licence revocation. The Authority also instructed fuel associations MEMAN, DAPPMAN, IPMAN and PETROAN to ensure member compliance.
This extends NMDPRA's recent focus on monitoring exploitative practices following PMS price hikes, including collaboration with FCCPC and Customs to curb price-gouging, smuggling and quality issues. Operators nationwide must act now to avoid penalties as inspections increase across border corridors and retail outlets.
Will you calibrate your dispensers immediately to protect your business and consumer trust, or risk losing your operating licence amid NMDPRA's crackdown on under-dispensing?
