The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately comply with a Federal Capital Territory High Court order recognising Agbo Major as the party's National Working Committee (NWC) leader. Justice Bello Kawu's March 17 ruling mandated INEC to update its records within 72 hours to reflect Major's leadership. NNPP National Secretary Ogini Olaposi stated INEC must not disobey valid court orders, noting the court also restrained INEC from engaging with Dr Ahmed Ajuji's faction pending judicial review. The party expressed disappointment that INEC reportedly continued dealings with Ajuji's group despite the ruling, arguing that appeals or stay applications do not halt enforcement of lawful orders. NNPP called for recognition of Major's leadership and restoration of the party's original logo, while urging members to remain calm ahead of the 2027 elections. The court's directive remains enforceable unless a court specifically grants a stay.
