NPFL Matchday 10: Rivers United's unbeaten run tested at Bendel Insurance
Matchday 10 of the 2026/2027 NPFL season kicks off with unbeaten leaders Rivers United facing their sternest test yet away at Bendel Insurance in Benin City today. The Port Harcourt side sit top on 17 points with a league-best two goals conceded after nine games, but five draws have left them vulnerable—Enugu Rangers match their tally with two games in hand. Saturday's opener saw Katsina United and Plateau United share spoils in a 2-2 draw.
The headline fixture pits Finidi George's Rivers against a Bendel Insurance side that's scored 14 goals in eight games but remains inconsistent at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium. A win could cement Rivers' grip on first; a loss ends their unbeaten run and opens the title race.
Elsewhere, the Southwest derby headlines: Ikorodu City host Shooting Stars at Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos, both chasing momentum after contrasting results. Enyimba travel to Nasarawa United in Lafia needing goals after a goalless draw, while Abia Warriors welcome in-form Niger Tornadoes to Umuahia. Warri Wolves host Kano Pillars, Barau FC face Kwara United, and Kun Khalifat host Inter Lagos.
Two fixtures postponed: Ranchers Bees vs Doma United, and Sporting Lagos vs Enugu Rangers (continental duty). New dates TBA.
With the table tight and Rangers looming with games in hand, which Sunday fixture will shake up the title picture most?
