National Rescue Movement (NRM) has announced it will field its own presidential candidate in 2027, rejecting any merger with other political parties. National Chairman Prince Chinedu Obi confirmed this during a Tuesday press briefing in Abuja, stating "We're not planning on merging with any political party or joining a coalition. We'll produce our presidential candidate..."

The party also resolved its internal crisis on Tuesday when Federal High Court Justice Joyce Abdulmalik dismissed an appeal filed by Chief Edozie Njoku's faction. NRM claims to be among the strongest political parties without internal divisions affecting its operations.

"We want Nigerians to know that the impression they have that the NRM has a crisis because of some individuals who are not even members of the party, that there's no single crisis in NRM," Obi stated. The party says it's prepared to rescue Nigeria from current challenges and ready to support any aspirant contesting available positions in the coming general election.

With 2027 approaching, does this independent candidacy position NRM as a viable third option between major parties, or will they struggle with resource challenges compared to established political structures?
