NRS rolls out e-invoicing system in phases starting August 2025

Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) launches phased e-invoicing system MBS for tax compliance, starting with large taxpayers in August 2025. Executive Chairman Zacch Adedeji announced rollout across three taxpayer tiers based on turnover thresholds. Large taxpayers (N1B+) began integration in August 2025, with medium (N1B-5B) and emerging (N1B-) following in 2026-2027. System aims to boost compliance, transparency, and revenue through real-time transaction monitoring. Enforcement begins 2027-2028 after engagement phases. Businesses advised to identify categories and prepare for technology integration.
