Oilserv partners Gabon to develop DEF-3 and D4-5 hydrocarbon blocks
Oilserv Limited has signed an agreement with Gabon’s Ministry of Petroleum and Gas to develop and commercialise hydrocarbon reserves in the DEF-3 and D4-5 blocks offshore Gabon. The deal, signed by Minister Clotaire Kondja and Oilserv Chairman Engr. Dr. Emeka Okwuosa, also covers gas transportation, compression and treatment infrastructure to support power generation and industrial activities in Gabon.
The agreement marks another step in the international expansion of Nigerian energy companies, following similar moves by Dangote Group’s planned $17 billion refinery in Lamu, Kenya, and Marginal Energy Limited’s $225 million offshore oil exploration pact with Sierra Leone signed in April 2026. For Nigeria, such deals signal growing revenue streams abroad, technology transfer, and potential contracts for local engineers, fabricators and service firms operating in the oil and gas value chain.
While financial terms of the Oilserv‑Gabon accord were not disclosed, the framework sets the stage for joint development of the two blocks, with infrastructure expected to feed thermal power plants and factories in Gabon.
