Opara urges Kwankwaso to drop ego, deputize Obi for 2027 presidency
Activist lawyer Maxwell Opara challenged former Kano governor Rabiu Kwankwaso to form an alliance with Peter Obi for the 2027 presidential race. Opara argued Obi has the capacity to win, citing his Labour Party success despite starting from nowhere. He warned that a North-South opposition split would fail against President Tinubu's re-election bid. Opara stated: 'Obi has shown capacity... It’s time for them to drop their egos and work with Obi, especially Kwankwaso. He should deputize Obi because that’s the only option.' The call comes after Obi met Kwankwaso in Kano, drawing mixed reactions online.
