OPay, Nigeria’s leading fintech, detailed its social impact initiatives that span education, skills development, and women’s economic empowerment. Through the OPay Scholars Programme—which includes the National Innovation Challenge, the OPay Futures programme, and a ₦1.2 billion, 10‑year scholarship commitment—the company has supported more than 1,200 scholarship beneficiaries. The National Innovation Challenge is run in partnership with Google and the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme, helping young Nigerians turn ideas into solutions for real‑world problems.

Beyond scholarships, OPay’s Play4aChild initiative has reached over 14,000 children, providing educational materials and support to improve learning experiences and reduce barriers to quality education. Its Women Empowerment Programme has provided skills development, capacity building and startup support to more than 100 women, aiming to help them build businesses, generate income and strengthen economic independence.

Across these programmes, OPay says it is turning its technology into opportunities with lasting social value, reflecting a shift from one‑off donations to sustained, measurable impact. The company emphasizes that partnerships are key to scaling its reach.

With over ₦1.2 billion committed to scholarships and thousands of lives touched through education and empowerment efforts, what role should large corporations play in shaping accessible education and economic opportunities for Nigerians?
