The Court of Appeal in Abuja has upheld a Federal High Court order restraining the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from holding its November 15-16 national convention in Ibadan without former Jigawa Governor Sule Lamido's participation as a chairmanship candidate. The appellate court condemned the PDP's defiance of the existing court order as contemptuous and disrespectful, noting the party proceeded with the convention despite clear directives to include Lamido. The court dismissed the PDP's appeal, awarded N2 million in costs against the party, and emphasized that parties cannot unilaterally decide which court orders to obey. Lamido's legal team had successfully argued that the PDP's actions violated the November 14 judgment granting him participation rights.
