Former presidential candidate Peter Obi defended his frequent party changes during an Arise TV interview today, insisting his movements across APGA, PDP, and Labour Party were driven by principles rather than personal ambition. 'We must dismantle this criminality that exists today,' Obi stated, emphasizing his political engagements are rooted in reforming governance and strengthening democratic values.

Explaining his exit from APGA, Obi said he moved to prevent internal disputes from destabilizing governance in Anambra State: 'Rather than allow it to become destructive to governance, I moved out.' He criticized the PDP as 'transactional' and inconsistent with his principles, noting internal conflicts also contributed to instability in the Labour Party platform.

Despite public skepticism, Obi maintained that ongoing political realignments are part of a broader effort to rebuild credible opposition capable of delivering accountable leadership. 'What is important is not what people were yesterday, but what they are today,' he said. The remarks come amid heightened political activity and shifting alliances ahead of future elections, with opposition figures seeking to consolidate forces against entrenched political structures.
