Peter Obi: Nigeria among most terrorised nations, blames failed leadership
Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has condemned Nigeria's position in the latest Global Terrorism Index, describing it as a "painful indictment of failed leadership." The report shows Nigeria among the most terrorised nations globally, with one of the highest increases in terrorism-related deaths. Obi criticized the government's misplaced priorities, weak governance, corruption, and neglect of security, stating: "While many countries are seeing a decline in terrorism, Nigeria is moving in the opposite direction." He highlighted ongoing threats including Boko Haram, ISIS-WA, kidnapping, and banditry, questioning the government's fundamental duty to protect citizens. Obi called for urgent action, declaring: "A safe and secure Nigeria is not too much to ask; it is the right of every citizen, and it must be delivered."
