Peter Obi slams Nigeria's electoral law changes

Peter Obi has criticised Nigeria's new electoral laws, warning they undermine ethical leadership. He highlighted a contradiction: while proposing N10m fines and two-year prison terms for dual party membership, lawmakers removed certificate forgery, age falsification, and false declarations as grounds for election challenges. Obi stated this violates the Nigerian Constitution and questioned why protecting political structures takes precedence over punishing deception in public office. He emphasised that laws should strengthen democracy, not weaken it, and called for defending truth, character, and accountability in leadership.
