Former presidential candidate Peter Obi criticised JAMB for banning CBT centres nationwide, warning that administrative failures risk students' futures. The remarks came in a statement on his X account, highlighting urgent need for interventions as 2026 UTME registration closes on 26th February. Obi noted persistent centre shortages despite promises of corrective action, citing ongoing confusion at Amawbia centre in Anambra State. He proposed allowing monitored limited services for centres under investigation and using previously approved centres under supervision to ease pressure. With registration at 30% capacity despite daily capacity of 100,000, Obi stressed that without intervention, students may miss exams due to system failures rather than lack of preparation. The 2026 UTME runs nationwide from April 16-25.
