PIA contravenes Nigeria's constitution – Energy expert backs Executive Order
Energy expert Nick Agule stated the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) violates Nigeria's constitution during Arise Television's 'Morning Show' on Friday. He reacted to President Tinubu's Executive Order 9, which mandates oil and gas revenue remittance to the Federation Account. Agule supported the order, noting the constitution requires all Federation revenue to go to the account. He claimed the 2021 PIA diverted these funds, removing them from government oversight. The Executive Order also eliminates duplicative structures in the oil sector to redirect resources for Nigerians.
