PDP caucus leader Fred Agbedi condemns Nigeria police blockade of party convention on Saturday (May 30), calling it "an attack on Nigeria's democracy." Police allegedly barricaded roads to venue where former President Goodluck Jonathan was to be ratified as presidential candidate of Taminu Turaki-led PDP faction. "They blocked the entire route, denied Nigerians access to the road, and prevented PDP from using a lawfully secured venue," Agbedi stated. Despite the blockade, PDP leadership and supporters stood ground, ensuring convention proceeded. Agbedi warned: "In democracy, these are troubling signs that should concern every citizen. Any attempt to restrict legitimate political activities undermines democratic values." He urged Nigerians to "remain vigilant in defending democratic space and constitutional freedoms."
