Investing N1 million each in Presco Plc and Okomu Oil Palm Plc at the start of 2016 would now be worth about N61.98 million and N42.12 million respectively, according to Nairametrics analysis of NGX share price data. An N1 million stake in Presco bought at N33.00 per share on 4 January 2016 would have grown to N2,045.30 per share by 24 September 2026—a 6,098% price return (47.30% CAGR). Okomu Oil, bought at N30.30, rose to N1,276.20, delivering a 4,112% return (42.05% CAGR). Combined, N2 million invested equally would be worth roughly N104.10 million, excluding dividends, fees and taxes.

The extraordinary naira gains reflect strong underlying business growth: Presco’s revenue rose from N15.72 billion in 2016 to N330.64 billion in 2025 (40.3% CAGR) and operating margin expanded from 44.7% to 65.0%; Okomu’s revenue climbed from N14.36 billion to N198.15 billion (33.9% CAGR) with margins stable around 48%. Even after the naira’s 85% depreciation against the dollar (from ~N197 to N1,328), the investments still yielded dollar returns of about 819% for Presco and 525% for Okomu—equivalent to 23% and 19% annual gains respectively.

With Nigeria’s external reserves above $53 billion, inflation falling to 15.43%, and the FTSE Russell Frontier Market reclassification set for 21 September 2026 boosting foreign interest, the equity market remains attractive. For investors seeking returns below 30%, OMO and Treasury Bills offering 16‑20% stop rates provide lower‑risk alternatives. Will you consider adding Presco or Okomu to your portfolio for long‑term wealth, or explore safer fixed‑income options given the current macro backdrop?
