Presidential spokesman Daniel Bwala has accused Arise TV's Rufai Oseni of being an unofficial spokesman for Peter Obi, challenging him to openly declare his political support. In a Monday X post, Bwala alleged Oseni's interrogation of Obi on electricity policy was an attempt to conceal backing for the former Anambra governor.

Obi had pledged to increase Nigeria's electricity generation to 10,000 megawatts within four years if elected president in 2027, making this promise after emerging as the NDC's presidential candidate at the party's national convention in Abuja.

Bwala directly challenged Oseni: 'Be courageous and bold and be a man by taking a leave of absence and or sabbatical from Arise News and join Peter Obi's campaign and test his capacity.' This highlights the increasingly blurred lines between journalism and political activism as Nigeria's 2027 presidential campaign intensifies.

With media credibility being questioned directly by presidential spokesmen, how should Nigerian journalists navigate their role in political discourse while maintaining professional integrity?
