Qatar expels Iranian diplomats after gas field attack
Qatar declared Iranian military and security attaches, along with their staff, persona non grata and demanded their departure within 24 hours. The move follows Iran's missile attack on Qatar's Ras Laffan Industrial City gas field, causing widespread fires and damage. Qatar's foreign ministry cited Iran's repeated attacks as the reason, noting the facility was previously evacuated after Iran threatened retaliation for Israeli/American strikes on its own gas fields. Iran escalated attacks after killing two top officials, targeting US interests in Gulf states including Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. Qatar claims it intercepts most Iranian missiles but some cause damage. Qatar warned of additional measures to protect sovereignty, stating it reserves the right to take all necessary actions under international law.
