Reno Omokri appointed Nigeria's ambassador to Mexico
Nigeria's President Bola Tinubu has appointed former presidential spokesman Reno Omokri as the country's ambassador to Mexico. The appointment was approved on Friday, March 7, 2026, alongside 64 other ambassadors-designate to diplomatic missions worldwide, including the United Nations. Omokri expressed gratitude to the President in a video shared on his X handle, stating he was overwhelmed with joy upon learning of the appointment. He promised to be faithful and loyal to Nigeria and its Constitution. The Senate had previously confirmed Omokri's nomination in December 2025. This appointment follows Tinubu's earlier announcement of 65 ambassadors-designate, including 31 career diplomats and 34 non-career ambassadors.
