Risevest, Nigeria's leading fintech for US Dollar investments, has obtained a Fund & Portfolio Manager licence from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), ending months of regulatory uncertainty. The licence, granted to subsidiary RV Fund Management Limited, brings Risevest's operations fully under Nigeria's capital market framework. This follows a 2025 SEC warning that cited a lack of required licensing for Nigerian users, which Risevest addressed through trusteeship arrangements and its 2023 acquisition of SEC-licensed Chaka. The move positions Risevest to legally capture rising retail demand in Nigeria's capital market, which saw 88% YoY growth in July 2025. Co-founder Eke Urum stated the approval reflects 'rigorous review' and commitment to global compliance. Risevest joins other SEC-licensed fintechs like Bamboo and Trove in Nigeria's expanding fintech ecosystem.
